Tom G. Palmer

TOM G. PALMER is Fellow in Social Thought at the Cato Institute in Washington, D.C., and director of Cato University.

Formerly H.B. Earhart Fellow at Hertford College, Oxford University, and vice president of the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University, he has published frequently in such journals as the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, Ethics, and Critical Review, as well as in publications such as Slate, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and The Washington Post.

He received his B.A. in liberal arts from St. Johns College in Annapolis, Maryland, his M.A. in philosophy from The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., and his D. Phil. in politics from Oxford University.

Recent publications include:

A frequent public lecturer in the U.S. and abroad, his specialties include civil society in post-Soviet Eastern and Central Europe, public choice, and the moral and legal foundations of individual rights.
